Vermeil is a gold plating onto Sterling Silver. All Vermeil pieces stocked, or made, by Golden Snowdrop are plated in 18ct yellow gold to a minimum thickness of 2.5 microns. This is much thicker than standard gold plating with far better wearability. How long this will last does depend on how your piece is worn and the type of piece. Items such as rings, that have more contact and movement will wear more quickly than earrings etc. To prolong the life of your vermeil pieces we recommend, as with all jewellery, that pieces are removed for sleeping, washing or swimming. Contact with chemicals and perfumes should also be avoided. A soft jewel cloth is recommended for cleaning. We offer a replating service for any items of jewellery should you need it, whether for pieces created by us or purchased elsewhere.

The Collections Personal Story:

This collection was designed by our founder Stephanie Longhurst in 2019. Developed when Stephanie was working from her studio in Salisbury this was her first planned 'complete' collection. It was created at a time when Bee motifs were gaining popularity alongside a wider awareness of how essential these fuzzy creature are to our ecosystem. However they also resonated with Stephanie for other reasons. Having grown up in a house named after them, they were reminiscent of her childhood home in the Dorset countryside. Now they are also a reminder of what can be achieved with focus, dedication, and the generosity of all the people Stephanie had previously worked alongside, each of them contributing their knowledge and inspiring her in their own way.
