The Mid Victorian - Grand Period

1860 - 1885

Shaped by both industrial progress and a period of national mourning following Prince Albert’s death, Mid Victorian jewellery is often richer and more substantial in character. Designs favour bold gold work, intricate detailing, and darker materials such as onyx, jet, and black enamel, alongside influences drawn from classical and archaeological revival styles. Pieces from this era carry a strong sense of craftsmanship, symbolism, and permanence.
